Upload a file of uwnetids into group membership on the UI
Allow group manager to add members by uploading a file of uwnetids. We have a use case where a campus partner needs add 5000+ members into a few groups once a year.

Support /group/{groupid}/effective_member?changed_since_date
Return only the members that are added since the changedsincedate.

Handle changed RegID
Occasionally student records are assigned new RegIDs. The system is aware of these records because when you search the old RegID in the SWS person resource a link to the person record using the new RegID is provided.
Suggest either
Have resources like registration, enrollment support the old RegID.
Have the empty response representation include the fact that the queried RegID has a replacement value.

Add salary benefit load rates to the Financial Web Service
At least a couple of UW systems require programmatic access to official UW benefit load rates. These rates are set annually by Management Accounting & Analysis and posted online for people to view and stored in the Financial Accounting System (FAS). If these rates were made available via FWS then UW systems could find the rates using a Web service instead of either copying the data locally or directly accessing a UW enterprise database.

Improve the navigability of new resources
There are two new person-specific resources in v5 of the SWS - the financial resource and the notice resource. It would help our support and testing staff if it were possible to browse to those resources, instead of needing to construct the urls by hand.
There are quite a few places in the SWS where there are links to resources that are protected - test scores, enrollment searches, and the grade roster, for instance.
It might also be helpful to include links to the current, next and previous terms on the index resource. On browsers where I don't have those…

Alert Campus Administrators and Fiscal Specialists or individuals affected to end of appointment date ahead of time
Campus does not have a way to tell end of appointment dates until UW Payroll runs a report for them. While that works well for intra dependecies, it does not work well for interdependecies of systems.

Add Canvas Syllabus Descriptions to SWS
Now that ICD's are being retired Canvas is the new solution for instructor-entered course descriptions. It would be fantastic to get the custom descriptions along with the rest of the data about the course.

Please add a "Major" resource to the SWS
ASTRA would like to get all of it's student application related Span of Control values out of SWS so that the DTS job that pulls span of control values from SDB can be retired. The only SOC type that is being retrieved from SDB that is not available in SWS is "Major".

Allow searches to see curric_ts_omit flagged courses
Some clients (groups service, canvas, for example) need to see hidden courses in both curriculum and section searches. Suggest you add a parameter on the query string to activate an 'include ts_omit sections' query.

Provide central place to host resource scheduling information
Expand the current function of r25 (or like service) to not only be able to host classroom data, but any available space on campus. Provide a Web Service so that current space seeking apps could hook into it. Also have a interface that building coordinators could access that eliminates the need for every building to have a separate booking app.

allow potential service consumers to limit their usage authorization request to only the less sensitive resources
We're preparing the paperwork to request FWS authorization for one of our applications. Relative to other UW services, it's a fairly rigorous process, considering we only want org code and org name data, neither of which seems to be of a sensitive nature.
Since we're trying to follow best practices in terms of not re-using already approved certs across multiple applications, I anticipate we'll have to go through the approval process at least a few times.
It would be nice if we could self-regulate in exchange for a less rigorous authorization process - i.e. don't let us see sensitive stuff,…

Add field to Course Section representation for self sustaining flag
Self sustaining flag is per section attribute, available in SDB (EDW) on table sectimeschedule in field called self_sustaining. Important data for departmental planning and for display to students.

Enrollment resource return links for future quarter
The enrollment search appears to be NOT returning links for the future quarters in which a student is enrolled. Is that by design?

Add financial transaction data to FWS
This would save us from having to manually download expenditure transactions from MyFinancial.Desktop.
Perhaps this effort could also expose other MyFD functions under web services, such as reconciliation.

formalize business logic for certain attributes (GPA, class)
There are a number of attributes -- particularly for student resources -- that depend on business logic that isn't well-defined across campus. The most famous example of this is GPA, which must be calculated based on a number of different fields, taking into account a number of caveats about different types of courses, etc. To make matters worse, the business logic that defines this calculation is not well-documented (as far as I know) and results in potentially different results in different applications that may or may not properly calculate the GPA using the same rules of the registrar's office. Get 3rd party code online
I have code that is generic enough that others could use it, but there isn't a place to share code.
A sourceforge/launchpad/codeplex-like area (hosted by UW or just a special tag for UW Web Services projects at either site) would be great. A forum would allow for knowledge capture, collaboration, and deduplication of efforts.

modifications to Section resource
The Groups Web Service provisioner could source its data from SWS if:
o The section search resource accepted a timestamp, and returned only those sections which had been modified since that timestamp
o The section resource returned a system timestamp
o The registration resource optionally returned StudentNbr or UWNetId instead of RegId3 votes
